Congratulations to Sebastian Collett, Class of 2013

The Women’s Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 Photography Competition. The competition was conceived to draw attention to photography’s significance as a contemporary art form, and to broaden and build the Museum’s already extensive photography collection. The competition received over 780 entries from established and emerging artists from all over the world. Our team of expert jurors (Peter Barberie, The Brodsky Curator of Photographs, Alfred Stieglitz Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art; noted photographer Larry Fink, and gallery director Darius Himes) selected six winning artists.

The six winning artists selected for the 2014 Photography Competition will each receive a $1000 prize. The artists are:
Andrea Alessio, San Biagio di Callalta, Italy
Goseong Choi, Brooklyn, New York
Sebastian Collett, Asheville, North Carolina
John Edmonds, Upper Marlboro, Maryland
Sandi Haber Fifield, Westport Connecticut
Justin Kimball, Florence, Massachusetts

Each of these artists’ winning images will become part of the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The response to the competition was wonderful and has brought many talented photographers to the attention of the Museum’s curatorial staff. With the competition we hope to introduce the work of the selected artists to both experienced and new collectors. The photographs are available for purchase in a limited edition of 15 for $600 each.
