Infrastructures & Inheritance: A Local Matter

FEATURING: MATT RAHNER, ADAM J. LONG, & DIRECTORS ANDY CLARKE AND ZACHARY HERRMANN

Infrastructures & Inheritance, a multifaceted, collaborative exhibition of photographs and documentary film that explores power, character, and community in urban Kansas City, opens at the Red Lady Gallery on November 7th, 2014. Photographers Matt Rahner and Adam J. Long will show recent work alongside the premiere of a documentary film by Zachary Herrmann and Andy Clarke. Infrastructures & Inheritance is designed as an exhibition space that will later play host to artist talks and public programming to continue a dialogue about the representation of and issues facing historic neighborhoods like Wendell-Phillips, including education and city planning.

Adam J Long’s Repurposed positions portraits of high-school students alongside images of the Kansas City School District. Photographs of students confront the camera and the viewer. These images are shown alongside photographs of the neglected schools they once attended. The images provide a space to consider urban issues often overlooked. (courtesy of Red Lady Gallery)
